Jesse Owens above, born in 1913 in Alabama, family move to Cleveland, Ohio, went to East Technical High School where he tied the world record in the 100-yard dash at 9.4. Went to Ohio State-U. 1936 Olympic, first American to win 4-gold medals. |

in the long jump. NCAA pentathlon champion in 1982-1983. In the 1988
Olympics, she won gold medals in the long jump and heptathlon. 1987,
was named female athlete of the year. 1996 Olympic, won 6-medals. Feb
2001 retired from sport.
